Over 80% of website traffic is as a direct result of search engines. If you want to increase the number of visitors to your website it is crucial that you at least aspire to a good search engine position. How many web enquiries have you had lately - or ever?

Search Engine Friendly....or what?

The First Law of Search Engines:
Every major crawler-based search engine uses link analysis of some kind as a significant part of their ranking algorithms. That is why we at EASIserv.com always recommend a "Links" type page for our websites and encourage approaching other websites in order to get listed on their sites with keyword rich, 'anchor text'. Also, whilst the World Wide Web may appear to be a totally visual medium - it's indexed textually. So your website needs to be (textually) search engine friendly.

Here's an experiment for you. Fire-up whatever search engine you prefer to use - like Google or Yahoo or MSN for example. Search for a keyword or phrase that relates to your organisation or your product-line. Something that really ought to be contained somewhere prominently within your website.

But what's a keyword, I hear you ask? Well, by way of explanation, how would you describe your organisation's products or services? More importantly, what word(s) would potential customers use when searching the web for products and services? Incidentally, research shows that in 33% of all web searches, a 2 word phrase is used and then a 'qualifier' is added. For example - web design + Northampton or hire cars + Brighton, or mortgage services + Manchester. Anyway - enter your keyword(s) into the search engine of your choice and try to find your website in the search engine results pages. Typically, 80% of users visit the first 2 search results pages only. So if your site isn't in the first couple of result pages - you're nowhere! That's when you need to think - maybe I need some help!
