Copywriting for the Web

A Journey From Plain Old Copywriting to Search Engine Copywriting

Traditional copywriting is the art of writing sales and marketing related materials - in effect copywriting is salesmanship. Copywriting for a website is not the same as writing for a printed page. Writing for a computer that's looking for patterns that can be detected by an algorithm, while simultaneously crafting the same language for a human being who's looking for meaningful information - is not an easy task. Effective search engine copywriting is one of the most important factors that help you in obtaining high search engine rankings.

Whilst you might reasonably take the view that you can already write decent marketing copy - you might quickly come to realise that writing copy for search engines is a different skill altogether. How do you impress both the search engines and your website visitors? If all you're going to do is to gather a bunch of keywords/phrases together and shovel them on to the page - the 'on-page' copy is likely to end up as a not very good natural reading experience. So somehow you've got to try to get the copy balance just right between 'keyword rich' and 'keyword saturation'.  That's where EASIserv.com's persuasive website copywriting can help you - it's what you say that sells, not how you say it.

Off-Page Copy: much favoured by Search Engines (but often ignored by some web designers)
Listed below are some of the less obvious 'off-page' text areas that EASIserv.com pay particular attention to, because we know that Search Engines pay particular attention to them too.

  • Page Title: always commence with the website's main target keyword/phrase and limit the title to about 55- 65 characters.
  • Meta Description: is used by many search engines to provide a short description of the page that is listed in its index. Some search engines don't recognise the Meta Description tag and will often simply take the first few lines of text in the 'on-page' body of your text and display that as the description.
  • Meta Keywords: is significantly less important these days to Search Engines but, as it's there, include some keywords in the Meta Keywords tag

On-Page Copy:
Listed below are some of key 'on-page' text areas that EASIserv.com pay particular attention to:

  • we write copy that inspires readers to take action
  • we use Header tags, where sensible, to emphasise 'themes'
  • we ensure paragraphs are not too long and contain your target keyword/phrase once
  • we ensure that all copy written is attractive to human beings as well as search engines
  • we link pages internally to other pages with the keyword/phrase being present in the link-text
  • we employ 'readability' techniques; like text breaks - short sentences - lots of dashes - something that reads quickly.

Give us a call - see if we can help you get better known by your potential customers through our copywriting skills. People don't know you, so how can they like you? And yet they need to like you before they will trust you - and they must trust you before they will buy from you. At EASIserv.com we offer an exceptional search engine copywriting service with creativity - that promises superior results.
